Biomedical Bonding AB signs its first Clinical Use and Supply Agreement with a veterinary practice, bringing a new generation of fracture fixation to the United Kingdom.

The signed Bonevolent® AdhFix® Clinical Use and Supply Agreement, together with the complete clinical ecosystem delivered to Vita Referrals.

Biomedical Bonding AB (BMB) today announced the signature of its first Clinical Use and Supply Agreement with a veterinary practice, launching the Bonevolent® AdhFix® technology into clinical use in the United Kingdom. The agreement is with Vita Referrals, a leading UK referral practice, and marks the entry of AdhFix® into clinical adoption in one of Europe’s largest veterinary markets. The signature follows the recent announcement of BMB’s first distribution agreement for the Bonevolent® AdhFix® ecosystem, and together the two agreements open BMB’s commercial channels on both the clinical and distribution tracks.

Bonevolent® AdhFix® is an injectable, light-curable composite plating technology that the surgeon shapes directly intraoperatively to match the patient’s own anatomy. It is designed to address anatomically challenging fractures in companion animals, including humeral condylar, mandibular and acetabular fractures in cats and small dogs, where conventional metal implants can be limited by size, rigidity or surgical accessibility. It can be used alone or to augment traditional fixation.

“This is a landmark moment for BMB. Signing our first clinical agreement, and doing so as we enter the UK, one of Europe’s largest veterinary markets, is exactly the start we hoped for. Vita Referrals is a respected referral practice, and their surgical expertise and commitment to advancing veterinary orthopaedics make them an ideal first clinical partner. I could not be more excited about what lies ahead, and I look forward to working closely with Rob and his team and to learning from the clinical outcomes together.”

From a research project at KTH to clinical use in the UK

The journey began as a curiosity-driven research project at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, with the ambition to replace conventional metal plates with intraoperatively moldable composite fixators. Through a decade of translational work with academic and clinical partners, including the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and KTH, that research has become a validated product entering the hands of practising veterinary surgeons.

Why Vita Referrals, and why the UK

Vita Referrals is a specialist referral practice known for its surgical caseload and its commitment to advancing veterinary orthopaedics. The practice sees exactly the type of small and complex fractures that Bonevolent® AdhFix® is designed to address, and its surgical team has been engaged with BMB throughout the clinical validation of the technology.

The United Kingdom represents one of Europe’s largest and most sophisticated veterinary markets, with a strong referral culture, a shared clinical language and well-established pathways from specialist practice into wider adoption. Taking the first commercial step there, with a partner of Vita Referrals’ standing, provides a clinically credible foundation for international expansion.

“As a surgeon, I am always looking for better ways to manage the small and complex fractures that are hardest to fix with plates and screws alone. Bonevolent® AdhFix® gives us a genuinely different option, both on its own and to augment traditional metal implants. I am pleased that Vita Referrals is working with BMB to bring this technology into clinical use following rigorous pre-clinical testing.”

Clinical use, delivered responsibly

As with every clinic adopting the Bonevolent® AdhFix® ecosystem, the Vita Referrals surgical team has been onboarded through BMB’s structured training and certification pathway. The pathway covers kit preparation, intraoperative composite application, screw placement and light-curing procedure, and is a prerequisite for first clinical use. Ongoing clinical support is provided by BMB throughout the clinic’s first cases.

Fractures aren’t standard. Neither is the care behind them.
